Here at The Ministry we brew small batches of hand crafted ales. Brewing small batches means we can keep it fresh and that's the way it should be. We love experimenting with malt, yeast and hops - we even grow our own Cascade hops. We are also experimenting with oak barrels, fruit, herbs and various bacteria so stay tuned to see what we come up with next!
After having been a keen home brewer for over 17 years in early 2016 Ministry of Beer was born. Ministry of Beer is a family run brewery from our small farm in Rosedale on the outskirts of the Barossa Valley. What do we farm? We grow our own Hops. We currently have around 200 plants growing with a vision for expansion in the future. Having a small brewery means we can produce small batches of unique beers which change frequently.
It all began with our first beer, suitably named The Instigator. A Westcoast IPA, packed full of all our favorite hops including Galaxy, Citra & Mosaic.
The Whippersnapper is our Berliner Wiesse and available in either Raspberry or Dry Hopped version. Raspberry has been the most popular choice to date – so stay tuned to see our next take on this one!
Our Experimental Pale Series is an ever changing Pale Ale utilizing different combinations of various hops, malts and yeast.
The Rye Man is a Rye IPA which uses around 10% malted rye to produce a spicy malt profile with a mix of Galaxy and Chinook hops.
Harvest Ale is a Pale Ale made with our own Cascade Hops fresh from the vine and picked on brew day. As we plant more varieties they will end up in this beer too.
The Old Timer is our barrel aged golden sour. It is a mixed fermentation starting with brewers yeast, then into American Oak Barrels with wild yeast and bacteria where it spends 12 months.
The Outcast Milk Stout is a traditional English style stout brewed with lactose which we have added the bonus of Caramelized Figs.
